I came across this rainbow by sheer luck when I looked over a tree clearing that had an overlook which provided this amazing view. I was heading southbound on the Appalachian Trail from Mount Race after a brief rain shower. The angle of the early sunset and moisture in the air provided one of my favorite hiking experiences. This was an epic trail that was a fifteen-mile loop starting in Connecticut near Bear Mountain and crosses the Massachusetts's border.
